In a June 2020 Democratic primary debate, Josh Hicks changed his tune, saying “There is systemic racism in the United States, and I saw it and have felt it and have heard it.” And when asked specifically in law enforcement, Josh Hicks replied, “In law enforcement, yes ma’am, the same thing”

o      In a June 10, 2020, article, the Washington Free Beacon reported, “Hicks, who served in the Maysville Police Department from 2003 to 2008, sang a different tune during a June 1 debate on Kentucky Educational Television, which occurred as anti-police protests ravaged cities across the country. He said he saw first-hand during his years as a cop that systemic racism exists and ‘has been going on for a long time.’

“‘There is systemic racism in the United States, and I saw it and have felt it and have heard it,’ he said. ‘In law enforcement particularly?’ host Renee Shaw asked. ‘In law enforcement, yes ma’am, the same thing,’ Hicks responded.”[1]
