In his campaign for Congress, Josh Hicks says that immigrants should be welcome in America, provided they come here “the right way”

o      In a Sept. 11, 2019, article, the Anderson News reported, “When Josh Hicks decided in 2016 he didn’t like the direction the Republican party was going, he decided to make a change and became a Democrat.

“Now, he’s out to change who represents the 6th Congressional District, which includes Anderson County.

“Hicks, an attorney who served as a police officer and U.S. Marine, is seeking the Democrat Party’s nomination to face incumbent Republican Andy Barr in next fall’s general election.”[1]

o      According to the same article, “Hicks said immigrants should be welcome in America, provided they come here ‘the right way.’

“‘We welcome people, but there are penalties for doing things the wrong way,’ he said. ‘We can have a strong border but we also need to have a clear and fair immigration system that works hand-in-hand with a strong border.’

“Hicks said he isn’t opposed to border walls, but favors the use of technology.

“‘I’m more in favor of technological advances and spending wisely,’ he said.”[2]
