o In a Sept. 11, 2019, article, the Anderson News reported, “When Josh Hicks decided in 2016 he didn’t like the direction the Republican party was going, he decided to make a change and became a Democrat.
“Now, he’s out to change who represents the 6th Congressional District, which includes Anderson County.
“Hicks, an attorney who served as a police officer and U.S. Marine, is seeking the Democrat Party’s nomination to face incumbent Republican Andy Barr in next fall’s general election.”[1]
o According to the same article, “Hicks said he would be willing with the president on issues both support but stopped short in joining others who call Trump a racist.
“‘There is so much rhetoric and folks want to label someone as racist or un-American to score points on Twitter,’ he said.
“‘That’s a distraction and we need to focus on solving our problems instead of who had the best soundbite on Twitter.’”[2]
