Josh Hicks rejects funding charter schools, saying help for schools “cannot come in the form of charter schools that will put public dollars in private pockets”

o According to a Sept. 26, 2018, editorial on Forward Kentucky, “Josh Hicks is a Lexington Attorney, former member of the United States Marine Corps, and former Maysville, Kentucky police officer. He is running to represent House district 45, which covers part of Fayette County.”[1]

o According to the same editorial, “Hicks pledges to improve Kentucky’s public school system and rejects funding charter schools. ‘Our public schools are struggling and need help. Help cannot come in the form of charter schools that will put public dollars in private pockets. Help for our schools cannot come where the public will take an investment risk so that the private can profit. We cannot use our children as cogs in a profit machine.’ Hicks’ two children attend public school in Fayette County.”[2]
