o In a Sept. 11, 2019, article, the Anderson News reported, “When Josh Hicks decided in 2016 he didn’t like the direction the Republican party was going, he decided to make a change and became a Democrat.
“Now, he’s out to change who represents the 6th Congressional District, which includes Anderson County.
“Hicks, an attorney who served as a police officer and U.S. Marine, is seeking the Democrat Party’s nomination to face incumbent Republican Andy Barr in next fall’s general election.”[1]
o According to the same article, “Hicks said he is a pro-choice candidate who wants to keep the rate of abortions ‘as low as possible.’
“‘But,’ he said, ‘I don’t think government should criminalize a woman’s choices about access to health care.’
“He does say, however, that he doesn’t favor abortion late into a woman’s pregnancy.
“‘If a child can be born health and survive outside of the womb, there has to be some regulations on that,’ he said.”[2]
